Global Goals - 17 goals for a better world

The ninth Sustainability Dialogue on the Global Development Goals took place on 8 March 2018 in the "heimathafen" with Dr. Maja Göpel. This was followed by a discussion with the then Lord Mayor Sven Gerich, Andreas Kowol, Head of the Environment and Transport Department, and all interested parties.

Ending poverty and hunger, gender equality, clean water, sustainable cities, climate protection and peace - the international community has agreed on these and other goals as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in order to secure the future of people and the planet. Dr. Maja Göpel presented the global goals and discussed them with the then Lord Mayor Sven Gerich, Andreas Kowol, Head of the Environment and Transport Department, and all interested parties in the "heimathafen".

As Secretary General of the German Advisory Council on Global Change, Maja Göpel works at the interface between science and politics on the topic of sustainability transformations.

About Maja Göpel

Maja Göpel is an action-oriented scientist who worked with various non-governmental organizations on world trade, climate change and sustainable development during her media diploma and doctorate in political economy and then spent six years playing a leading role in setting up the World Future Council in Hamburg and Brussels. She is a member of the Club of Rome, the Balaton Group and the German Sustainable Development Solutions Network as well as on the advisory board of the Generation Foundation and the Development and Peace Foundation.
