GEMommunal living in Bierstadt-Nord
Facts and figures
Who we are
We are a group of couples, singles and families with children. In cooperation with the municipal housing association GWW, we would like to realize a rental housing project in Bierstadt-Nord.
How far along we are
Our joint application for a hereditary building plot in the City of Wiesbaden's concept procedure was successful. Now the construction planning can begin. We hope to be able to move in by mid-2026.
What is the plan?
Five three-storey houses with a total of 35 apartments are planned on three plots in the green center of the Bierstadt-Nord development area. A wheelchair-accessible apartment is also planned.
What are our goals
We want to live together in an intergenerational, caring community, support each other and have fun together. We want to share many things with each other, pleasant things such as lively leisure time or necessities such as the organization of living together or very practical things such as everyday objects. Everyone should contribute, but everyone should also have space to withdraw. In view of the climate crisis, we attach great importance to sustainability in construction, energy supply, mobility and our interaction with nature. Outside of our project, we also want to foster a sense of solidarity in the neighborhood as a whole.
How this will be implemented
We want to create a sense of community in a communal space of 130 square meters on the ground floor of the building on the main street of the residential area. We also offer cultural and social activities there for the residents of the neighborhood, thus opening up our housing project to the outside world. The aim is to create a lively neighborhood in cooperation with institutions and stakeholders in the district. A workshop and a leisure room are also planned.
Project type: New build with rental apartments
Project size: approx. 35 apartments
Common areas: Multifunctional room, workshop, leisure room
Legal form: Association
Foundation: 2018
Status 2025: no more free apartments available, inclusion in waiting list possible

- a community house
- an extracurricular learning destination in nature
- a village square as a meeting place
- a place to experience history
- a space for inclusive forms of living and working
= an open asset for Klarenthal
We network co-productively with the state capital of Wiesbaden, district partners, charitable organizations, universities, cultural and educational institutions, restaurants and the voluntary sector.

Shared living - lively neighborhood entrance in Bierstadt North
We are a communal housing project with people who determine their own living situation. Singles, families, couples, students form a house community that will also have a social impact on the neighborhood.
We are currently developing an application for the concept procedure in the Bierstadt Nord neighborhood. This is intended to express our desire for a sustainable way of life and living close to nature and at the same time form a basis for living and working with others in the house community and in the neighborhood. The aim is to achieve ecological diversity through green roofs, vegetable and herb gardens and intensive facade greening. "Das Baumhaus" thus makes a contribution to "green architecture" and a better urban climate through energy-efficient living with the lowest possible CO2 emissions.
We want to encourage social proximity. At the entrance to the neighborhood, we are creating community spaces that also serve as local meeting places. A multifunctional community room with a kitchen will be created for this purpose. There will also be space for commercial activities, such as a café.
We would be delighted to find other interested people who would like to help shape an active house community.

Milestones : Start 2022
Project size: Apartments in various sizes, commercial space

We want to go back to school
The people ...
are people from Wiesbaden and the surrounding area who prefer to live together rather than in isolation. Alone, as a family or in the phase afterwards. We got together during the "days of communal living" and have been meeting regularly ever since.
Their idea
is the old Carl von Ossietzki School in Klarenthal. We would like to realize a joint housing project there in which the old building is preserved and used for new purposes. Nothing has been decided yet, but this allows us to develop ideas now. In addition to our own (smaller) self-contained apartment, we envisage a series of communal rooms. Perhaps we could also get in touch with the neighborhood from there with offers, open spaces, a café?
We look forward to welcoming new "classmates" to our housing project.

Facts and figures
Who we are
We are a group of adults, children and a dog in different constellations and generations. We are planning a communal, intergenerational housing project under the umbrella of the Mietshäuser-Syndikat in Wiesbaden-Biebrich.
How far along we are
We have come together as a core group and want to grow to 8 to 10 parties. We are organized sociocratically and growing together as a community even before we acquire a suitable property is extremely important to us.
What is the plan?
We want to live in an existing building in a way that conserves resources and is suitable for our grandchildren - and without barriers. We are currently looking for a suitable property in Wiesbaden-Biebrich for 8 to 10 parties. We want a lot of communal space, which can be made possible by reducing the private living space. And part of our mission is to have an impact on the neighborhood.
Our vision
We live a lively, tolerant, respectful coexistence. We openly shape the future. We act in diversity, sustainably and according to sociocratic values.
Our mission
We are working to create a communal, intergenerational housing project. Our building takes sustainability and accessibility into account.
Our goals
We create affordable living space in Biebrich by reducing individual spaces. We develop spaces for real encounters - also in the neighborhood.

Klosterhof Clarenthal - a place of encounter as a living spiritual community
Facts and figures
An old monastery is now being given a new lease of life. It is becoming a center of community, for the neighborhood, for social cohesion, for work, training and also for affordable housing. The monastery, which used to be a place of silence and contemplation, is now also becoming a versatile meeting place for the neighborhood, for culture, festivals, voluntary work and educational opportunities.
Description of the residential project
In addition to the diverse conceptual integration offers at the Klosterhof, we also want to create affordable living space. For this reason, we will, if possible, expand the Hofgut by adding a largely barrier-free third residential building with over 2,000 square meters of living space. The new building should be visually harmonious with the listed Hofgut ensemble. We consider this new building to be urgently needed, as the employment and housing market in Germany is currently deteriorating. Socially disadvantaged people in particular are disproportionately affected by these developments. With our innovative integration concept, tailored to these groups of people, we therefore want to offer temporary accommodation at the Klosterhof in addition to training and new jobs.
Based on the consistently positive long-term experience of the Hoffnungsträgerstiftung, we are very confident that we will be able to initiate a flagship project for the city of Wiesbaden with our communal living and integration concept.
Project type: Community-based integrative living on the Klosterhof
We want to create affordable living space as well as jobs and training places and integrate voluntary work. The Klosterhof will be open to the neighborhood and involve it in numerous participatory activities and festivals.
