MAK - Girls*Working Group
The Girls* Working Group is a professional association dedicated to gender-sensitive work that has been active in the state capital of Wiesbaden since 1987 as an advocacy group and a leading expert body promoting gender-sensitive education.
The Girls* Working Group (MAK) provides a forum for discussion on current trends and conceptual developments in the context of work with girls and all those who identify as female.
The working group consists of representatives from the city’s children’s, youth, and neighborhood centers; school social work; school social work in elementary schools; and representatives from independent organizations providing open children’s and youth services in Wiesbaden.
Programs for girls and anyone who identifies as female:
- Girls' Days and Group Activities
- Citywide events for girls and young women, such as girls’ sleepovers, girls’ movie nights, and readings
- International girls’ exchanges and camps
- Counseling and educational programs
- A wide variety of projects addressing topics such as school and careers, health and physical activity, violence prevention, leisure and culture, identity development, sexuality, and shaping diverse life paths.
- International Girls’* or STEM Day in cooperation with the Mainz Girls’ Working Group
- Participation in International Women’s Day on March 8
- Annual symposium on current social issues for professionals in open child and youth work as well as for professionals engaged in gender-sensitive work in Wiesbaden
