KiTa profile
What parents can expect that’s special at this daycare center:
For us, the freinetplus approach means that learning always takes place through social interaction. Children—both among themselves and with adults—explore the world around them and various phenomena, for example, in workshops such as the creative arts workshop and the woodworking workshop, through projects, during guided activities, and through independent exploration. Our mission is to take the children’s questions and topics seriously with openness, respect, care, and a sense of responsibility; to find answers and solutions together; and to discover new things. A key feature of a Freinetplus daycare center is shared decision-making—“The children have their say”—during the weekly group meeting. Jointly planning the daily schedule forms the foundation for learning processes in all areas of education: language, music, art, movement, and nature experiences… Educational tools include: weekly schedules (used by children and adults alike), task assignments through roles/duty rosters (table duty, flower duty, etc.), sign-in and sign-out boards (age-appropriate and suited to the child’s developmental level), workshops (used with and without adults), jointly established rules, and communication channels (wall newspaper, group meetings, morning circles, children’s councils, cross-group meetings). Even the youngest children in our groups grow into these structures and thus learn to navigate these methods and opportunities at an early age. When welcoming new children, we follow the “Berlin Settling-In Model.” Infants and very young children, in particular, depend on feeling safe and trusting their new caregiver in order to feel comfortable and develop without fear. For this reason, the adjustment process is carried out intensively in collaboration with the parents or the child’s primary caregiver. Together, we embark on a journey to support your child’s social, emotional, and cognitive development.
