Weil joined the Carmelite order at the age of nineteen. At the age of 27, he became principal of the grammar school in Geldern on the Lower Rhine and in 1796 professor of poetry, oratory and theology in Cologne. The Cologne art and architecture historian Sulpiz Boisserée studied philosophy with him. In the course of secularization, the Carmelite monastery in Cologne was dissolved in 1802. In August 1803, the parish priest of his home town of Eisenbach reported to Limburg that Weil was supporting him in his pastoral care and that he was doing his job very well.

Later, he is said to have taught at the municipal grammar school in Linz for two years, became parish administrator of Hasselbach in 1806 and finally parish priest of Idstein in 1807. He worked in this parish for ten years and was also a religion teacher at the local school seminary. In 1815, Weil was a member of the Nassau Chamber of Estates at the suggestion of the government.

In 1818, he was appointed parish priest of Wiesbaden. During his time in office, a chaplaincy was established and endowed, the first incumbent of which was the later city priest Philipp Schütz. On Weil's recommendation, St. Boniface was chosen as the main patron saint of the new church of St. Boniface. Just seven years later, Weil left Wiesbaden and retired to Oberhöchstadt as parish priest.
