Adventure hiking in the city forest
The Wiesbaden city forest surrounds our beautiful state capital like a crescent from Frauenstein in the west to Breckenheim in the east.
Adventure hiking in the city forest
This large forest area, loosely bordered by the villages of Klarenthal, Taunusstein, Eschenhahn, Niedernhausen and Sonnenberg, is the green lung of Wiesbaden. The municipal forest has long had the task of guaranteeing both the local recreation of the citizens and the economic potential for the timber industry with a healthy forest.
Hörwald
Wiesbaden's city forest is full of stories and history. Who works in the forest? How healthy is it and how is it kept that way? But also, where can traces of the Romans and Celts be found? And what does the forest mean for the climate of the state capital? In the Hörwald, you can discover the city forest acoustically at selected locations via smartphone and learn more about the topics of ecology, geology, zoology and botany. For this purpose, the foresters have set up steles with QR codes at a total of 16 prominent locations and vantage points throughout the city forest, from which the corresponding chapter can be accessed in a children's and adult version.
Rambach forest sports trail
The forest sports trail in Rambach has long since ceased to have anything to do with the fitness trails that were fashionable in the 1970s and were laid out on a grand scale, including in Wiesbaden. Just a few years ago, the 3.7-kilometre running and fitness trail was completely renovated. In the process, 11 new stations were created where you can first stretch and then train your coordination and strength. Signs explain how to perform the exercise. At station 2 you balance on a balance beam, at station 3 you do sit-ups on wooden trunks and at station 5 you train your strength by hanging. The trail starts next to the sports field in Rambach.
