Favorite places in Wiesbaden: Christiane Mannheim - Löwenterrasse

Dear guests of the city of Wiesbaden,

Today I would like to introduce you to my favorite place, the "Löwenterrasse" on the Neroberg. As a tour guide, I have been visiting Wiesbaden, Rüdesheim and the Rheingau for many years, so naturally I have a long list of favorite places, some of which are in my adopted home, the Rheingau.

The terrace framed by two lions, erected in 1930 as a memorial to the people of Wiesbaden who died in the First World War, has a very special attraction for me. A little out of the way and yet right in the middle of it, not too high and yet looming over the city, a magnificent panorama awaits you here: the elegant state capital with its numerous architectural and cultural highlights lies at our feet like a painting. Along the green Biebricher Allee, the view extends to the horizon: on the other side of the Rhine, Mainz and the ZDF studios, on the left the Odenwald with the Melibokus, on the right the Donnersberg are waiting to be discovered. In view of this diversity, we recommend taking a look at the almost 500-year-old vineyard directly below the Löwenterrasse. The evenly south-facing vines soothe the eyes and you immediately feel like having a glass of "Neroberger", which is served at the regular wine tastings. Rested and full of energy, you can now discover the Neroberg: Just a few steps away, a leisurely forest adventure trail invites you to go for a walk, the climbing park challenges your coordination and courage, the viewing temple rewards you with another magnificent view and the Opel-Bad, located just below, invites you to take a swim. Another highlight, the Russian Orthodox Church, is also not to be missed.

The Löwenterrasse is my favorite place to take a break early in the morning to clear my head, plan an eventful day or simply relax after a hard day's work.
