Election analysis for the 2026 local elections published
The Office for Statistics and Urban Research has evaluated the 2026 municipal elections based on the official final results from March 27 and published them in the form of an election analysis. The analyses provide a detailed overview of the results of the city council and local council elections.
Spanning 103 pages and featuring numerous tables and charts, the report examines, among other things, the number of eligible voters and voter turnout for in-person and mail-in voting in both elections. For the city council election, the results were presented not only in aggregate but also by local district. For each electoral slate, for example, it is clear in which local districts there were positive or negative changes compared to the 2021 municipal election. The votes gained or lost through cumulative voting, split voting, and striking names off the ballot were also compared individually. For the first time, there is also a three-page summary analysis of the local district election results for each district.
The election analysis can be downloaded here (opens in a new tab) free of charge. In addition, the results will also be available shortly on the Open Data Platform of the State Capital of Wiesbaden (opens in a new tab).
