Ostfeld: Presentation of the planning status of the new BKA building
From Friday, April 17, colorful posters will be displayed in many places throughout the city inviting people to an information evening on the new building for the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA). On Tuesday, May 12, at 6 p.m., admission from 5.30 p.m., all interested parties will have the opportunity to find out about the current status of planning at the Bürgerhaus Erbenheim, Am Bürgerhaus 3.
In Ostfeld, the focus is on the future: the groundwork is being laid for the next phase of the project. While a Europe-wide bidding process is underway for the master plan to further develop the future urban district and the surrounding landscape, work on the future site of the Federal Criminal Police Office north of the A66 is visibly progressing.
The BKA serves as the central agency of the German police and has offices in Wiesbaden, Berlin, and Meckenheim. With more than 5,000 employees in Wiesbaden, the BKA is one of the city’s largest employers. Helen Albrecht, Vice President of the BKA, provides insight into the current situation and describes the vision for the future central location: “BKA employees are currently spread across seven different properties throughout Wiesbaden. This decentralized distribution results in a noticeable increase in administrative effort in day-to-day work. As a modern agency, the BKA aims to position itself flexibly to meet future requirements—in terms of expertise, technology, and work organization. The new ALL IN ONE campus planned for Wiesbaden not only offers logistical and economic advantages, but also provides a modern work environment that fosters personal interaction and brings the BKA’s diverse departments closer together both in terms of content and physical proximity.”
“The BKA is part of our city’s DNA,” said Mayor Gert-Uwe Mende, thereby underscoring the importance of a modern BKA campus for the city of Wiesbaden: “It is our goal, as the state capital and home to key federal and state agencies, to provide the BKA with development prospects that are tailored to its needs and future-oriented.” To realize the vision of the new BKA campus, the planning-law framework for the future site must first be established. To this end, a land-use planning procedure is being carried out. The City Planning Office and the Urban Development Corporation (SEG) are developing the zoning plan for the new “All in one” site in close cooperation with the relevant departments. Representatives from the BKA, the State Agency for Construction and Real Estate in Hesse (LBIH), and the Federal Agency for Real Estate Tasks (BImA) are also closely involved in this process.
Even before the first official public participation phase of the urban land-use planning process, the City Planning Office and the SEG would like to provide an update on the current status of the development plan. Representatives from schneider + schumacher and GTL Landscape Architecture will present the interim status of the urban design for the new BKA “All in one” campus. Following the technical presentation, members of the public interested in the topic will have the opportunity to ask questions about the content presented. In addition to the project participants mentioned above, selected experts who are closely involved in the planning process will also be present to answer questions.
Registration for this public event is not required. Admission is free.
