Press release of the state capital Wiesbaden

Summer holiday program 2026 starts: diverse workshops and activities

This year, the state capital of Wiesbaden is once again offering numerous activities for children and young people aged six to 16 with its 2026 summer holiday program.

The complete program is now available at www.wiesbaden-ferienprogramm.de (opens in a new tab)

The focus is on bookable workshops and summer programs throughout the entire summer break. Children and teens can choose from a wide range of options—from nature and environmental projects to creative and musical workshops, as well as sports, technology, and media activities. They have the opportunity to discover new interests, try out their own skills, and enjoy a variety of holiday experiences together with others. In addition to the workshops, there are several open events that can be attended without registration.

Kicking things off from Saturday, June 27, through Wednesday, July 1, is the popular “Sommerwiese” in the Reisinger Anlagen. Every day from 2 to 7 p.m., the large green space in the heart of the city transforms into an open adventure and play area for children and families for five days. Admission is free, and registration is not required. New this year is that the event takes place from Saturday through Wednesday.

From the second to the sixth week of summer vacation, “Schöne Ferien vor Ort” will also take place again in various Wiesbaden neighborhoods. The children’s play festival offers a varied program with games, physical activities, sports, and creative workshops for children ages 6 to 12. It takes place Monday through Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. Registration is not required, and participation is free.

The “Action Games Wiesbaden” will mark the end of the summer vacation. On Friday, August 7, from 2 to 7 p.m., the Kulturpark am Schlachthof will transform into a sports adventure area for teenagers. Various disciplines invite participants to test their skill, endurance, and courage. Among other things, participants can look forward to Ninja Jump, bull riding, ice skating, go-karts, Aerotrim, and other action-packed stations. The event is aimed at young people aged 10 to 16. Admission is free, and registration is not required. Additionally, attractive prizes will be awarded.

“A heartfelt thank you goes to the ‘Schöne Ferien’ team at the Office of Social Work. Our colleagues have once again put together a diverse and high-quality program for the summer vacation. Vacation programs offer children an important break from the daily school routine and provide the opportunity to discover new interests and gain valuable experiences outside the classroom,” emphasizes Dr. Patricia Becher, Head of Social Affairs.

Starting Monday, May 11, Wiesbaden families can create their wish lists, prioritize activities, and submit group requests. The shopping cart must be submitted with a binding commitment by Monday, May 25, at the latest. Places will then be allocated using an algorithm. On Tuesday, May 26, all families will receive a response via email. Any remaining spots not yet assigned can be booked directly starting Tuesday, May 26, at 1:00 p.m. via an immediate booking process. In principle, all programs are also open to children with special needs, with individual support requirements taken into account.

The city’s vacation programs are organized by the Youth Work Department of the Office of Social Work of the State Capital of Wiesbaden.
