Eventful day at the city police's Girls' Day
Exciting first-hand insights into the work of the Wiesbaden city police: this year, young people were once again able to gain an impression of the work of the city's law enforcement officers at the Wiesbaden city police's Girls' Day.
In addition to a tour of the downtown police station and the command center, the program also included participation in a specially organized “mini” field training session: How do I create some space and ensure my safety in close quarters? And how do I react if someone gets too close to me? After this hands-on exercise, the group took a police car through the city to several notable spots and locations where the six interested girls were also given an explanation of fieldwork.
Peter Erkel, Chief of the Wiesbaden City Police, considers such events very important: “Being approachable for questions and concerns is the be-all and end-all of a community-oriented city police force. We are all the more pleased that even among the younger people in our city, there is a very keen interest in our work.”
The city police are also very satisfied with how this year’s Girls’ Day went: “So many smart questions and a genuine interest in our work show once again that this event is a very successful initiative,” Erkel concluded.
