Press release of the state capital Wiesbaden

Council of Europe as an "advocate for human rights" at Zukunftswerk Wiesbaden

On the occasion of the anniversary of the founding of the Council of Europe on May 5, 1949, the Department for Europe and Promotion Management of the State Capital of Wiesbaden invites you to an exhibition on Tuesday, May 5, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Zukunftswerk in the Luisenforum, second floor.

Under the title “Council of Europe: Champion of Human Rights,” visitors gain fascinating insights into the history, achievements, and significance of Europe’s oldest human rights organization. The exhibition highlights key topics such as the founding of the Council of Europe, its key contributors, and important milestones in its development.

Maral Koohestanian, Head of the Europe Department, emphasizes: “Human rights are not an abstract idea; they are the benchmark for political action. They determine whether people can live in dignity, freedom, and security. Especially in challenging times, it is our shared responsibility to defend and strengthen these rights every single day.”

The event is part of a series of accompanying events for the traveling exhibition of the European eyewitness project “European Archive of Voices,” which can be viewed at the Stadtmuseum am Markt through Sunday, May 31.

The event is free of charge.
