Committees meet

Several committees of the City Council will be meeting in public next week.

The meeting of the Environmental Committee will take place on Tuesday, May 5, starting at 5:00 p.m. at City Hall, Schlossplatz 6, in Room 22. A chairperson will be elected at the beginning of the meeting. Items on the agenda include “Promoting consideration: Education and protection against secondhand smoke at bus stops,” “Rhein-Main-Link – Route alignment and points of conflict,” “500 new trees for Wiesbaden,” “Optimal use of the city’s biomass potential with regard to the Wiesbaden biomass cogeneration plant and municipal heat planning,” “Participation in the nationwide ‘Abpflastern’ city competition – status of the review,” and “Status of ‘Abpflastern’.” 

The Committee on Women, Equality, Health, and Care will meet on Tuesday, May 5, starting at 5:00 p.m. at City Hall, Schlossplatz 6, in Room 318. At the meeting, a chairperson will first be elected. The agenda will then include topics such as “Current situation at the Public Health Department,” “Municipally supported acute gynecological consultation hours in Wiesbaden,” “Second Stage – transitional housing for women affected by violence,” and “Developments in women’s shelter capacities.” 

The Audit Committee will meet on Wednesday, May 6, starting at 5 p.m. at City Hall, Schlossplatz 6, in Room 318. The committee members will elect a chairperson. Afterward, they will discuss topics including “Proper use of caucus funds: Audit Mandate for the 2021–2026 Legislative Term,” “Paid Online Media Partnerships with Platform Providers, Multipliers, and Influencers,” and “Resolution on the Validity of the Elections to the City Council, the Local Advisory Boards, and the Foreign Residents’ Advisory Board; Repeat Election in Postal Voting District 99024 for the Local Advisory Board Election”. 

The Social Affairs Committee meeting will begin on Wednesday, May 6, at 5 p.m. at City Hall, Schlossplatz 6, in Room 22. A chairperson will be elected during the meeting. Topics to be discussed include “Status of the St. Elisabeth Catholic Daycare Center,” “Misallocation of Subsidized Housing – Transparency and Countermeasures,” “Housing in Residential Youth Welfare,” and “Wiesbaden Housing Exchange.” There will also be a report on current developments in the Department of Social Affairs, Education, and Housing. 

The Committee on Mobility will meet on Thursday, May 7, at 5:00 p.m., in City Hall, Room 22, Schlossplatz 6. Following the election of a chairperson, the meeting will address topics including “Parking spaces for scooters and motorcycles,” “Revocation of ‘30/40 km/h speed limits’ on major thoroughfares,” “Free bus travel on Saturdays,” “Fees in city-owned parking garages,” and “Expansion of e-scooter parking zones in Wiesbaden and development of a citywide parking concept.” 

The meeting of the Committee on Schools, Culture, and City Partnerships will begin on Thursday, May 7, at 5 p.m. at City Hall, Schlossplatz 6, in Room 301. After electing a chairperson, the committee members will discuss topics including “The impact of planned cuts to teaching hours at integrated comprehensive schools on Wiesbaden,” “Exchange with the City Student Council,” “All-day programs and club partnerships,” and “State funding for the City Museum.” 

The Committee on Sports, Civic Participation, and Volunteerism will meet on Thursday, May 7, starting at 5 p.m. at City Hall, Schlossplatz 6, in Room 318. A chairperson will be elected at the beginning of the committee meeting. The agenda includes, among other topics, “Timeline and specific measures for the renovation of the Helmut-Schön Sports Park,” “Reduced swimming pool admission for volunteers,” “Disc golf in Wiesbaden,” and “Racism in sports – strengthening support and contact points for clubs.”
