Open spots for children and teens at the Wiesbaden School of Music and Art

At the Wiesbaden School of Music and Art (WMK), children of various ages can gain musical experience and gradually develop their interests. After summer break, there are currently openings in various programs, ranging from group music-making with the youngest children to learning to play their first instrument.

Even as infants, children can discover the world of music together with their parents. In the Parent-Child Music Groups (MEK), participants sing, dance, play, and experiment with different sounds and instruments. The groups are designed for children from birth through about three years of age. The youngest participants can join at any time.

In Early Music Education (MFE), preschool-aged children are introduced to music in a playful way. Singing, movement, rhythm, instruments, and making music together are the focus. In the process, children naturally develop a sense of musical relationships and can discover their own musical abilities. There are currently still openings in various MFE groups.

The “Drum’n’Spaß” drumming class is all about rhythm, movement, and making music together. Children ages five and up learn to drum in a playful way and experience how individual rhythms come together to create a shared musical experience. Anyone interested in trying it out can simply drop by; no registration is required for the trial session.

Which instrument might be the right one? In the introductory course, children between the ages of seven and nine can get to know and try out various instruments. This gives them a first impression of how the different instruments are played and which ones they particularly enjoy. There are currently a few spots still available, and you can join right away.

For children and teens who want to learn an instrument, the trombone is also an exciting option. This versatile brass instrument is just as at home in classical ensembles as it is in jazz, rock, and pop. Trombone lessons begin on Thursday, October 1.

The WMK’s programs are designed for different age groups and musical interests. Whether it’s a child’s first musical experiences, drumming together, or starting out with their own instrument—the joy of making music is always the focus.
