In the workshops, participants can try their hand at track and field, arts and crafts, rock climbing, media, volleyball, music, and drama, among other activities. Day trips include visits to the Technik Museum Sinsheim or the Rheinböllen Zoo. 

Once again, a special highlight is the popular children’s play city “Mini Wiesbaden.” There, the participating children learn through play how a city works: They take on various professions, earn their own play money, and discover how government and politics, culture, work, money, and consumption all interact. In the process, they can make their own decisions, take on responsibility, and actively help shape life in a city. 

“Schöne Ferien vor Ort” will also take place again during the two weeks of fall break. This open children’s play festival offers a varied program of games, physical activities, sports, and creative projects for children ages 6 to 12, Monday through Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. During the first week of the break, “Schöne Ferien vor Ort” will be held in Klarenthal; during the second week, it will take place in Schelmengraben. Registration is not required, and participation is free of charge.

For activities that require advance booking, families can begin creating their wish lists starting Monday, August 24, at 1:00 p.m., prioritize their selected activities, and specify group preferences. The shopping cart must be submitted with a binding reservation by Sunday, September 6. Available spots will then be allocated through an automated allocation process. On Monday, September 7, families will be notified by email about which activities they have been assigned spots for. Also on Monday, September 7, starting at 1:00 p.m., immediate booking will begin for any remaining spots. These can be booked and paid for directly online; the tickets will then be available for printing. 

In general, all programs are also suitable for children with special needs, taking individual requirements into account. 

The city’s vacation programs are offered by the Youth Services Division of the Office of Social Work. They support families with childcare during the school breaks and enable children and teens to discover new interests, experience a sense of community, and gain experiences in various areas without the pressure to perform.
