10 Years of the City Museum: A Lecture by Director Sabine Philipp

The sam—Stadtmuseum am Markt—invites you to a lecture by Director Sabine Philipp on Wednesday, August 19, at 6:00 p.m. at the Gläsernes Museum in WerkRaum Wiesbaden, Langgasse 5–9. Admission is free. Please register at info@stadtmuseum-wiesbaden.de.

Ten years ago, the City Museum opened on the market square at the Dernschen Gelände. Since then, it has been telling the story of Wiesbaden and Hesse, has established connections within the city and region as well as across the broader museum landscape, and has become an institution in the cultural landscape of the state capital. To mark its tenth anniversary, the “Glasernes Museum” at WerkRaum will highlight the development of the City Museum and its role for Wiesbaden and the region.

Sabine Philipp, director of the City Museum since 2018, looks back on eventful times, highlights of past events, community projects in the city, and regional networks to mark the museum’s 10th anniversary. In doing so, she offers insights into the day-to-day work of the museum and its team behind the scenes and presents ideas for its future. At the same time, she highlights the potential for the City Museum’s further development at a new location and explains why, from the museum’s perspective, the former SportScheck building on Langgasse is an ideal location right now.

The event is part of the program “10 Years of sam – The Glass Museum at WerkRaum.” WerkRaum is a project within the framework of “World Design Capital Frankfurt RheinMain 2026,” which is funded by the State of Hesse, the City of Frankfurt am Main, and the Kulturfonds Frankfurt RheinMain.
