"PlayFountain" Mobile Water Playground Through August 11
Due to the ongoing heat and the enthusiastic response, the “PlayFountain” mobile water playground at Kochbrunnenplatz will be extended by two days. Instead of running through Sunday, August 9, as originally planned, this free attraction will now be open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. through Tuesday, August 11.
“The prolonged heat wave highlights how important innovative climate adaptation measures are in our city centers. The mobile water playground perfectly combines cooling off, play, and a pleasant environment. I am particularly pleased that the new location on Kochbrunnenplatz has been so well received by children and families. That’s why we were happy to take advantage of the opportunity to extend its stay at short notice,” says Mayor Christiane Hinninger.
The “PlayFountain” is part of City Management’s efforts to revitalize Wiesbaden’s downtown area. Mobile and flexible offerings like the water playground help make public spaces attractive even on hot summer days while simultaneously testing new approaches to climate adaptation. Covering an area of approximately 100 square meters, 1,024 electronically controlled water jets create a variety of fountains reaching heights of up to four meters, offering a playful way to cool off for young and old alike.
