New Leadership at the Fasanerie

The Fasanerie Zoo and Botanical Garden in Wiesbaden has a new director. Since August 1, Bettina Gies has been leading the park, which is a division of the Wiesbaden Department of Parks and Recreation.

The 54-year-old geographer with a degree has worked as a freelancer for various environmental agencies, including the Ministry of the Environment of Rhineland-Palatinate. She serves as a lecturer at the Hessian State Agricultural Agency. She volunteers with the Wiesbaden network for “Education for Sustainable Development (ESD),” in which the Fasanerie plays an important role.

“Her expertise, combined with her diverse experience in communicating environmental issues and climate change through the media, makes Bettina Gies well-suited for her new responsibilities,” notes Mayor Christiane Hinninger.

Bettina Gies is looking forward to working with the highly motivated team and to the Fasanerie’s wide range of activities, including educational programs, the breeding of endangered animal breeds, and many recreational activities.
