About 750 apartments are to be built in the new neighborhood, at least 30 percent of which will be publicly subsidized. Plans also include a large park with play and exercise areas, a neighborhood square with local amenities, and a low-traffic transportation plan featuring sustainable mobility options. 

“With the adoption of the zoning plan, we have laid the crucial groundwork so that construction can now begin. Wiesbaden needs housing, and that is exactly what we are creating here. Now it is crucial to consistently implement the next steps,” says Andreas Kowol, the department head responsible for the project. 

The project was significantly advanced during Kowol’s term in office. On the site—which remains largely undeveloped today and features former nursery buildings and greenhouses—the construction access road is scheduled to be built next year following initial preparatory work. SEG Stadtentwicklungsgesellschaft Wiesbaden mbH is developing the neighborhood under its own responsibility and, as the development agency, will be responsible for constructing the public transportation infrastructure and green spaces. 

“With the adoption of the bylaws, we can now move into the next phase regarding the properties as well. Several lots within the area are to be brought to market,” emphasize Prof. Dr. Ute Knippenberger and André Reisig, managing directors of SEG Stadtentwicklungsgesellschaft Wiesbaden mbH. Following the approval of the zoning plan, the next concrete phase of the neighborhood’s development is now underway. The project is part of a series of larger housing construction projects in Wiesbaden aimed at creating new living space—including, for example, the Hainweg in Nordenstadt.
