“The Fasanerie brings people into contact with nature in a variety of ways: by observing animals, working with natural materials, or conducting joint research in their regular groups. It is precisely this combination of knowledge, personal experience, and the opportunity to get hands-on that makes the program so valuable,” says Mayor and Head of the Environment Department Christiane Hinninger. 

A highlight of the program is the event “Work and Change—Stories from the Fasanerie” on Saturday, September 19. At various stations, visitors can try their hand at traditional craft techniques, delve into the history of the Fasanerie, and learn about old-world skills. Participation is free of charge. Donations to support environmental education efforts are welcome. 

Another key focus is the regular nature groups. Unlike one-time events, participants can observe and explore animals, plants, and the changing seasons over a longer period of time. For children, there are programs such as the “Herb Gnomes,” the “Fasanerie Foxes,” and the “Nature Explorers.” With “Teens in the Park,” the Fasanerie also caters to young people aged twelve and up.

Enabling everyone to experience nature remains a central concern of the Fasanerie. That is why the inclusive program “Nature and Disability” continues. Here, people with and without disabilities experience nature and creativity together. In the “Little Household Helpers” workshop, for example, participants create a practical organizer out of wood and cork. 

Numerous individual events also open up new perspectives on nature. In “Survival – Fit for the Outdoors,” children and teens ages ten and up learn important basics for staying safe in nature. “Nature Meets Art – Collect, Arrange, Capture” combines natural materials with creative design. 

The evening events offer special experiences. “Bats—Hunters of the Night” is dedicated to these fascinating masters of flight, while “Dark Park” lets visitors experience the animal and plant park under atmospheric lighting. Traditional knowledge is also shared in the workshops “Smoking with Local Herbs” and “Celtic Tree Circle.” 

With its new half-year program, the Fasanerie continues its lively, hands-on, and intergenerational nature education work.
