Under the theme “Children’s Rights – You’re Worth It!”, children, teens, families, and all residents of the neighborhood can look forward to a diverse program featuring live music and a DJ, stage performances, hands-on activities, creative workshops, information booths, and an international buffet. The neighborhood festival is jointly organized by the Schelmengraben Neighborhood Center, the BauHaus Neighborhood Office, the Schelmengraben Working Group (AGS), and numerous institutions, organizations, and dedicated community members from the neighborhood. 

This year’s neighborhood festival is also dedicated to the “Schelmengraben Declaration” on children’s rights, diversity, and democracy. With the “Schelmengraben Declaration,” the organizations, institutions, and volunteers active in the neighborhood are jointly sending a clear message in support of respectful and solidarity-based coexistence. They are committed to freedom, diversity, and democracy, to equal rights for all people, and expressly oppose misanthropic hate speech, exclusion, and far-right extremist beliefs. The central message is: “For our neighborhood, we say clearly: We stand together!” The neighborhood festival brings this stance to life. Children’s rights, participation, and democratic coexistence are not only discussed but also put into practice through numerous activities and events for children and families. At the same time, the large number of participating organizations and initiatives demonstrates the diversity and shared commitment in Schelmengraben. 

Through the festival, the organizers aim to create a meeting place where people of different generations and backgrounds can come together, making it clear that democracy and social cohesion begin where people live together, interact, and shape their neighborhood collectively. 

In light of the festival’s focus on children’s rights, the proceeds from the event will be donated to the Wiesbaden Children’s and Youth Helpline (“Nummer gegen Kummer”).
