Medicine Made Easy: Focus on Gut Health
Under the title “Does Health Begin in the Gut? What the Microbiome, Diet, and Probiotics Mean for Our Health,” the Public Health Department, in collaboration with Praxisverbund e.V., invites you to a free informational event on Wednesday, August 26, 5:30 p.m., to a free informational event at City Hall, Schlossplatz 6. Experts will present the latest findings from medicine and nutritional science in an easy-to-understand manner.
The gut is much more than just a digestive organ: trillions of microorganisms—known as the microbiome—perform important functions that are essential to our health. They aid digestion, contribute to the production of certain vitamins, strengthen the immune system, and are even linked to our well-being through the gut-brain axis. The event will focus on the importance of the microbiome for health, the gut-brain axis, and the influence of diet and lifestyle on the composition of the gut flora.
Speakers will include Dr. Angelika Hellstern (“The Microbiome and Gut Health—Fundamentals and Connections”), Jennifer Brumm (“Rethinking Nutrition: How We Can Strengthen the Microbiome”) and Dr. Detlef Wiedemann (“What Should I Look for When Buying Probiotics Myself? – Where Do They Help, and What Are Their Limitations?”). Afterward, there will be an opportunity to ask questions and engage in conversation with the speakers.
