Lecture: “Christian Dell—A Talented Silversmith Who Loves to Experiment”

On Tuesday, September 1, at 6:00 p.m., the Stadtmuseum am Markt (sam) invites you to a lecture titled “Christian Dell—A Talented Silversmith with a Passion for Experimentation” at WerkRaum Wiesbaden, Langgasse 5–9. Dr. Christianne Weber-Stöber, former director of the Deutsches Goldschmiedehaus in Hanau, will present the silversmith, designer, and master craftsman Christian Dell and his diverse body of work. Admission is free.

Christian Dell received his training in the craft at the renowned Hanau Academy of Art and Design. There, he learned the craft of silversmithing and developed his own distinctive design style, characterized by technical skill and a spirit of experimentation. Later, as a master instructor, he passed on his ideas to the next generation of designers. The lecture focuses on Dell’s works in silver. They provide insight into his creative development and, at the same time, demonstrate how closely design and craftsmanship are tied to their era.

The lecture is part of the accompanying program for the special exhibition “Christian Dell – From the Silver Pitcher to Goldgasse.” The exhibition is a project organized as part of World Design Capital Frankfurt RheinMain 2026. WDC 2026 is supported by the State of Hesse, the City of Frankfurt am Main, and the Frankfurt RheinMain Cultural Fund.
