Wiesbaden Celebrates Safely: Modern Access Control Will Continue to Protect the Rheingau Wine Week in 2026
Certified access control systems secure the event areas while also ensuring emergency routes, delivery access, and access that is as barrier-free as possible. The state capital of Wiesbaden is once again relying on a comprehensive access control plan for this year’s Rheingau Wine Week. Lessons learned from last year have been incorporated into the current planning.
The Rheingau Wine Week is one of the most popular events in Wiesbaden and draws numerous visitors to the city center every year. To ensure that the wine festival can take place safely and without a hitch in 2026 as well, the city is using the certified access control systems it purchased last year. The city’s equipment includes 30 Oktablöcke TR, 60 Armis One, and 150 Armis Go units. These various systems make it possible to secure access routes to the event areas in accordance with the respective local conditions and safety requirements. The necessary access control points for the individual event areas were once again planned in detail. Particular consideration was given to emergency and evacuation routes, fire department access points, accessibility, and the requirements for deliveries and event operations.
“For us as a city, the safety of our citizens is our top priority. That is why we invested approximately 2.8 million euros in modern access control systems last year. They are used during the Rheingau Wine Week, as well as at numerous other festivals and events such as the Sternschnuppenmarkt or the Carnival parade,” says Mayor Gert-Uwe Mende.
Access control is part of the comprehensive security plan for the Rheingau Wine Week. The access control systems are designed to prevent unauthorized vehicle access. At the same time, it must be ensured that emergency services, first responders, and authorized deliveries can reach the event areas at all times.
“The increased requirements for access control place heavy demands on local governments. In Wiesbaden, we acted early and created the necessary conditions so that our events can continue to take place,” explains Maral Koohestanian, Head of Public Order. “The Rheingau Wine Week is an integral part of Wiesbaden and brings many people together every year. I wish all visitors a wonderful and carefree Wine Week.”
Planning and implementation are carried out in close cooperation between Wiesbaden Congress & Marketing GmbH, as the event organizer, the state capital’s security authorities, and the state police.
