“Wiesbaden Is Making the Transition”: Exhibition at the Environmental Store Provides Information on the Heat Transition
The new exhibition “Wiesbaden Makes the Transition” at the Umweltladen, located at Luisenstraße 19, shows what Wiesbaden’s heat supply might look like in the future. It has been on display since Thursday, August 13. The exhibition focuses on district heating, heat pumps, and other heating systems.
Mayor Christiane Hinninger says: “Our exhibition provides guidance based on the municipal heating plan adopted in June. It shows which heating solutions might be suitable for your own home. The heating plan is not a mandate for individual buildings or property owners. Nor does it replace individual decision-making. That’s why we need reliable information, personalized advice, and dialogue with residents. Because one thing is clear: the heating transition can only succeed if we work together.”
About one-third of the city’s greenhouse gas emissions come from heat supply. With the Municipal Heating Plan, Wiesbaden has a strategic concept for the heating transition. It outlines how the heating supply can be made climate-neutral, resilient, and more focused on local energy sources step by step. By 2045, greenhouse gas emissions from the heating supply are set to decrease by about 93 percent compared to today.
The exhibition marks the kickoff of an information campaign on the heat transition in the city center. The Wiesbaden Climate Protection Agency, ESWE Versorgung, and the Wiesbaden Environmental Store are offering a comprehensive information program featuring free energy consultations, lectures, guided tours, and informational events.
The information campaign kicks off with an event on Thursday, August 20, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at WerkRaum, Langgasse 5–9. The event is aimed specifically at property owners and interested tenants. ESWE Versorgung and the Wiesbaden Climate Protection Agency will provide information on municipal heat planning, the expansion of district heating in the city center, as well as suitable heating solutions and funding opportunities. Afterward, attendees will have the opportunity to discuss questions directly with the experts.
Further information about the events and the free energy consultation is available at www.wiesbaden.de/waermewende (opens in a new tab), as well as at the Umweltladen, by phone at (0611) 313600, and via email at umweltberatungwiesbadende.
