Wiesbaden's Health Kiosk Opens
On Tuesday, August 25, the Public Health Department of the state capital of Wiesbaden held a ceremony to officially open Wiesbaden’s first health kiosk, attended by approximately 130 invited guests. It is located in the Westcenter at Carl-von-Linde-Straße 20/Flachstraße 13. Once it is fully operational in October, visitors will receive free support there in the areas of health, prevention, and self-help.
With its central, accessible location in the Westcenter and good public transportation connections, the health kiosk is designed to offer people in Wiesbaden easy access to counseling. “Many residents don’t know what services are already available in Wiesbaden or who they can turn to with health or social issues. We’re making the wide range of support services in our city and within the healthcare system more accessible and connecting them with one another,” says Milena Löbcke, Director of Health. “This allows the services to work together even more effectively and reach the people who need them.”
The Health Kiosk focuses on health promotion and prevention. The Health Kiosk staff provide individualized advice on health and social assistance, facilitate contacts, and, if necessary, also help schedule appointments.
In addition to individual consultations, informational events, prevention programs, and self-help group meetings will also take place at the Health Kiosk in the future. Certain medical services, such as vaccination clinics, will also be available there in the future with low barriers to access.
Dr. Katharina Ferrari-Kühne, acting director of the Public Health Department, is equally pleased about the opening of the Health Kiosk: “Extensive renovations have transformed the former post office into a modern and welcoming space where both counseling and social interaction are possible. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who was involved in this renovation and in bringing the project to life. We at the Public Health Department hope that this space will become a vibrant hub for health, community, and mutual support.”
From the very start, project partners include the Volksbildungswerk, the Addiction Support Center, the psychosocial counseling service for deaf people provided by “Hand & Ohr,” and the Wiesbaden Self-Help Contact Center.
The Health Kiosk is open to all residents of Wiesbaden, regardless of age, background, or health insurance status.
