The photos show people in Wiesbaden who work at night. At first glance, one thinks of those who are visible to the public, such as police officers, emergency medical personnel, and firefighters. However, the photos also feature many other people who work at night—whether professionally or as volunteers—for the well-being of Wiesbaden’s residents. 

With this photo exhibition, Anja Kessler aims to give a face to these people, without whose nighttime efforts Wiesbaden would come to a standstill. The selection of images does not claim to be exhaustive. 

The city hall, where many citizens come and go, is, in the photographer’s view, an appropriate place to express gratitude, as it allows the citizenry to symbolically pay tribute to the work of the many people who keep Wiesbaden running at night.

Anja Kessler worked as a freelance photographer in Rio de Janeiro until 2019 and has been living in her hometown of Wiesbaden again since 2020.
