Applications for the StartAward competition are being accepted through August 15
Founders, startups, and university teams can apply for the StartAward 2026 through Saturday, August 15. Through this competition, the state capital of Wiesbaden highlights the wealth of innovation, entrepreneurial spirit, and future potential found in Wiesbaden and the surrounding region.
Mayor Christiane Hinninger says: “Wiesbaden needs people who turn ideas into businesses and have the courage to try something new. With the StartAward, we want to highlight these very founders, connect them, and support them on their journey.”
Birgit Knetsch, Head of the Department of Economic Affairs and Employment, says: “The StartAward shows what’s possible when business, academia, the startup scene, and the city all pull together. This strong network is what makes the competition and the support for young companies in Wiesbaden possible in the first place.”
Awards are given to startup projects in the categories “Startups from Wiesbaden” and “Ready to Go – Startups from the University.” The “Female Founders” special prize also pays special tribute to female founders and their entrepreneurial achievements. The winners will receive prize money totaling over 30,000 euros. In addition, the StartAward provides access to a strong network of companies, investors, mentors, and other support services offered by Wiesbaden’s startup ecosystem.
The competition is made possible by numerous local sponsors and partners. Through their financial and in-kind support, they play a vital role in raising the profile of innovations and providing a platform for young companies.
The StartAward is aimed at people who want to make a difference—through technology, creativity, sustainability, or new business models. We’re looking for ideas with potential—and people who have the courage to take on entrepreneurial responsibility and actively help shape the future.
Applications for the StartAward 2026 are open until Saturday, August 15. The awards ceremony will take place on Tuesday, October 27, at Tattersall.
