Advance ticket sales for the competition and gala events begin on Saturday, August 1. Tickets are available either from Frankfurt Ticket RheinMain, the ticket hotline at (069) 1340400, www.frankfurtticket.de, or at the Tourist Information office at Marktplatz 1 in Wiesbaden, phone hotline (0611) 1729930. 

The selection committee, the body responsible for choosing the performers for the European Youth Circus, reviewed 152 applications from 23 European countries in mid-June and selected 25 acts from 11 nations. 

The members of the selection committee were Arlette Hanson (Netherlands, theater director and dramaturg, director of the Wintercircus Hanson from 1994 to 2018), Michaël Betrian from the Netherlands (diabolo artist, former European Youth Circus award winner), Mikail Karahan from Germany (Cyr wheel artist, member of the street art group “Urbanatix”), Peter Kremer (Germany, circus expert, having worked with Roncalli, FlicFlac, and Tigerpalast), as well as Franziska Domes and Elisa Mendelssohn (both from the Wiesbaden Cultural Office). 

The primary criterion for selecting acts for the festival is the quality of the artistic performance. However, to ensure a well-rounded festival program, the diversity of disciplines and the representation of different nations must also be taken into account. “The committee has once again put together a high-quality program from the many applications,” says Dr. Hendrik Schmehl, Head of the Cultural Affairs Department, who welcomed the selection committee during the meeting. “The Wiesbaden audience can once again look forward to outstanding shows.”
