Water Playground at the Reisinger Park: Final Preparations Before Opening—Technical and Water Quality Tests
The new water playground at the Reisinger Park is taking shape. One year after the groundbreaking, the above-ground areas are largely complete. The water play area, the play areas, and the recreational spaces are already visible. During a site visit, Mayor Christiane Hinninger and members of the Mitte District Council reviewed the progress of the work.
Mayor Christiane Hinninger says: “The water playground will offer children a wide variety of play options and, at the same time, become a new gathering place for families. Especially on hot days, it will provide a way to cool off in the city center. At the same time, it is a concrete example of how we can adapt public spaces to climate change. Especially in the densely built-up city center, we need places that allow for cooling off and relaxation during hot summers.”
Over the next few days and weeks, the water systems will be fine-tuned. Technical inspections and water quality checks will also take place. This calibration and testing phase of the water systems is essential for the safe and hygienically sound operation of the water playground. Once operational, the water will meet swimming pool standards.
Once this phase is complete, the facility can be approved and opened. This is expected to happen in August.
To bridge the gap until the playground opens, the city has once again organized the “Playfountain” mobile water playground on short notice. It will be set up on Kochbrunnenplatz from Saturday, July 18, through mid-August.
