PlayFountain Water Playground at Kochbrunnenplatz
The state capital of Wiesbaden is exploring additional ways to help people cool off in public spaces during the summer. As a short-term solution, it has therefore set up a mobile water playground: The PlayFountain will be providing a refreshing respite in the city center at Kochbrunnenplatz from Saturday, July 18, through Sunday, August 9.
Mayor Christiane Hinninger: “The weather forecast for the next few days shows that the heat isn’t going to let up anytime soon. With the PlayFountain, we want to give children in particular a chance to cool off.”
The PlayFountain covers an area of about 100 square meters and has approximately 1,000 electronically controlled nozzles. They produce water fountains up to four meters high. A water treatment system recirculates the water, continuously purifies it, and maintains it at drinking water quality. Power consumption is very low at just 10 kilowatts per hour. The PlayFountain is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Use is free of charge.
Kochbrunnenplatz also offers additional play options on the playground and has two large umbrellas with seating. In addition, a misting system is installed on the square, which also provides relief from the summer heat. A public restroom is located nearby.
