To Protect the Animals: Fasanerie Closes Early Due to the Heat
The German Weather Service has issued a warning for Wednesday and Thursday, July 29 and 30, predicting temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius. Due to the forecasted heat wave, the Fasanerie Animal and Botanical Park will be open only from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on both days.
By closing early, the Fasanerie is looking out for the well-being of its animals. High temperatures are not only a strain on people. Closing early allows the animals to retreat undisturbed to the shaded areas of their enclosures or to their cool stables during the hottest hours of the day.
Residents should also take the high temperatures seriously. It is recommended to schedule physical activities for the cooler morning and evening hours whenever possible, to drink plenty of fluids, and to avoid direct sunlight during the midday and afternoon hours.
