Music academy students as guests in the Heilig-Geist-Kirche
As part of a new concert cooperation with the Protestant Martin Luther Parish, students from the final year of the Wiesbaden Music Academy (WMA) will perform a concert on Thursday, June 11, 7 p.m., in the Heilig-Geist-Kirche, Am Kupferberg 2.
Following the successful launch of the “Young Rising Stars” series in February, during which students from the Wiesbaden School of Music and Art performed their “Jugend musiziert” competition repertoire, the spotlight now turns to the young generation of artists at the Wiesbaden Music Academy.
The varied program features music from different eras and for various ensembles. Guitarist Christian Bock performs works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Hans Werner Henze, and William Walton, spanning a range from Baroque suites to modern 20th-century compositions.
Trumpeter Lars Große performs a sonata by Georg Philipp Telemann as well as Carl Höhne’s virtuosic “Slavic Fantasy.” In the second half of the concert, violinist Manolis Schiller presents a solo performance featuring excerpts from Johann Sebastian Bach’s Partita BWV 1006.
The concert is complemented by vocal performances by singer Charlotte Kühn, accompanied by Igor Palmov on piano. The program features works by George Frideric Handel, Gustav Mahler, Joseph Haydn, and Richard Strauss, as well as the contemporary piece “His Name Is Jan” by American composer Missy Mazzoli.
The concert offers insights into the artistic work of students nearing the end of their studies and warmly invites you to experience young musicians in a special atmosphere. Admission is free.
