Press release of the state capital Wiesbaden

Elevator at Kransand recreational area out of service due to malicious damage

The elevator at the Kransand recreational area is out of service until further notice. This is due to damage caused by vandalism in May, which is expected to result in costs in the five-figure range.

The elevator car door, in particular, was severely damaged and must be completely replaced. Due to long lead times, the repairs are expected to last until August. During this time, the elevator cannot be operated for technical reasons. Vandalism had already caused significant damage in June and August 2025.

The elevator went into service in August 2024 and provides a direct, barrier-free connection between the popular Kransand area on the banks of the Rhine and the transportation hub at the bridgehead. It offers significant added value, particularly for passengers at the “Kastel Brückenkopf” bus stop. The convenient way to overcome the difference in elevation is particularly beneficial for people with limited mobility.
