A Colorful Bike Festival to Wrap Up City Cycling
Wiesbaden is celebrating the successful conclusion of this year’s City Cycling campaign with a colorful bike festival: On Saturday, June 20, the state capital invites everyone to the grand finale at the Dern’sche Gelände from 4 to 7 p.m.
The City Cycling Office and the Allgemeine Deutsche Fahrrad-Club Wiesbaden / Rheingau-Taunus e.V. (ADFC) had called on people to actively pedal from May 31 to June 20 under the motto “Covering Kilometers Together” and collect cycling kilometers together. The closing celebration now offers an opportunity to honor this effort and experience the diversity of cycling in Wiesbaden.
A varied program with numerous hands-on activities and information booths is aimed at all age groups. Visitors can look forward to, among other things, a free bike wash for active City Cycling participants, a bike check, and bike lock coding by the ADFC. In addition, activities such as cargo bike test rides, tandem riding, and a bike obstacle course invite visitors to give them a try.
Current topics related to cycling infrastructure and mobility will also be presented: The city’s cycling office will provide information on ongoing projects, while the Smart City department will offer insights into the “Data World of Bicycle Use in Wiesbaden” and the city’s digital twin. The program is complemented by initiatives such as the “Pimp your Bike” station run by the Working Group on Local Mobility in Hesse, as well as information on the Brückenschlag Challenge 2026.
A stage program will also provide entertainment and opportunities for discussion. Planned events include a panel discussion with “City Cycling” participants moderated by Nico Lange, a presentation on the “BiciBus” concept, and a bicycle acrobatics performance by the Wiesbaden Children’s and Youth Circus. Refreshments will also be available: various vendors will offer drinks, coffee, and snacks.
