Press release of the state capital Wiesbaden

Daycare expansion continues: Erbenheim-Süd and Bierstadt-Nord

On Tuesday, June 2, the Wiesbaden City Council handed over two new daycare centers in the new development areas of Erbenheim South and Bierstadt North to the respective local councils for consultation. The planned facilities will create urgently needed childcare places for children in growing districts.

In the Erbenheim-Süd development area, a five-group daycare center is being integrated directly into the new building of the Erbenheim Volunteer Fire Department. The facility is being developed in close collaboration between the Erbenheim Volunteer Fire Department, the Department of Social Affairs, Education, and Housing, and the Building Authority of the State Capital of Wiesbaden. The combined use of the building creates structural and operational synergies. “An interesting project that makes optimal use of synergies. And what child has ever had their daycare center in a fire station?” emphasizes Mayor Gert-Uwe Mende, whose department oversees the fire department.

In the Bierstadt-Nord development area, a seven-group daycare center is being built in cooperation with the Urban Development Corporation (SEG). The facility is intended to meet the increased childcare needs of the new residents in this growing neighborhood. “With both projects, we are creating the necessary infrastructure for families in growing neighborhoods at an early stage. Needs-based and reliable childcare remains one of the most important priorities for the state capital of Wiesbaden,” says Dr. Patricia Becher, Head of the Social Affairs Department.

The draft resolutions will now be discussed in the Erbenheim and Bierstadt local councils before being considered by other political bodies.
