Press release of the state capital Wiesbaden

Guided Tour of the Special Exhibition “Christian Dell – From the Silver Jug to Goldgasse”

On Sunday, June 28, at 11:30 a.m., the Stadtmuseum am Markt (sam) on Marktplatz will host a public guided tour of the special exhibition “Christian Dell – From the Silver Jug to Goldgasse.” No registration is required to participate in the tour. The number of participants is limited. The tour lasts about one hour. The cost is 6 euros, or 4 euros with a discount, plus a tour fee of 4 euros.

The tour offers an overview of the life and work of Christian Dell (1893–1974), a designer, Bauhaus teacher, and later resident of Wiesbaden. It highlights the stages of his career in Hanau, Weimar, Frankfurt, and Wiesbaden, as well as selected highlights of his creative work. On display are early silver works, innovative designs made of plastic, and the lamps with which Dell has made his mark on international design history to this day.

The special exhibition presents Christian Dell as a versatile designer bridging the worlds of craftsmanship, Bauhaus modernism, and industrial mass production. At the same time, it highlights his connection to Wiesbaden’s city history and pays tribute to an international design figure who, until now, has unjustly received far too little attention.
