Press release of the state capital Wiesbaden

Information on Water Supply at Cemeteries

The water supply at the North Cemetery and the adjacent Jewish cemetery has been fully restored following a water main break. At the cemetery in Delkenheim, too, the water fountains are once again available for watering graves. There had also been a water main break there. At the cemetery in Schierstein, however, the water supply has been shut off.

Damage to the plumbing system occurred at the cemetery in Schierstein earlier this week. A specialized company will repair it as soon as possible.

Among the causes of the damage are the water pipes, some of which are historic and in many cases date back to the early years of the respective cemeteries.

The Parks and Recreation Department of the state capital of Wiesbaden asks that, in light of the heat and drought, residents use water particularly responsibly.

The Cemetery Division of the Parks and Recreation Department manages 21 cemeteries within the city limits. Information about cemeteries, funeral customs, types of graves and burial options, as well as the services offered by the Cemetery Division, is available at friedhoefe-wiesbaden.de (opens in a new tab).
