Orphil Poetry Prize of the State Capital of Wiesbaden is awarded

On Tuesday, June 9, the Orphil Poetry Prize of the State Capital of Wiesbaden will be awarded for the eighth time in honor of Wiesbaden poet George Konell.

The grand prize, worth 10,000 euros, goes to Karin Fellner for her body of work and, in particular, for her book *Polle und Fu*. Lara Rüter is awarded the debut prize, worth 2,500 euros, for *amoretten in netzen*. Dr. Hendrik Schmehl, Head of the Cultural Affairs Department, will present the award during a ceremony at the Literaturhaus Villa Clementine, Frankfurter Straße 1. The evening will feature musical accompaniment by guitarist Volker Reichl. The event begins at 7:30 p.m., and admission is free. 

The “Orphil” poetry prize is awarded every two years to poets who take a stand with their work and defy political and stylistic trends. This year’s jury consisted of poet and host Carolin Callies, literary critic Maren Jäger, and literary critic Christian Metz.
