Take the bus to the Johannisfest in Mainz
This year, the Mainz Johannisfest will take place from Friday through Monday, June 19–22, in downtown Mainz and along the banks of the Rhine. The associated temporary closure of the Theodor-Heuss-Brücke will affect bus service, and the event ticket will be available again.
The Theodor-Heuss-Brücke will be closed to traffic on Monday, June 22, from approximately 9:45 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. for a drone light show. Bus lines 6 and 9 will be affected. During the closure, buses coming from Wiesbaden will travel to the “Eleonorenstraße” stop, turn around there, and then head back toward Wiesbaden. The closure will be lifted immediately after the drone light show ends. The buses will then resume their regular service.
To ensure everyone can attend without any hassle and without having to search for parking, ESWE Verkehr is once again offering the popular event ticket this year. The ticket costs €5.20 for adults and €3 for children and entitles the holder to round-trip travel on public transit throughout the entire 6500 fare zone (Wiesbaden, Mainz, and surrounding areas) on the day of the event. It is valid until 5 a.m. the following day or until the end of the last Nightliner service.
The event ticket is available wherever tickets are sold: at all advance sales locations, at ticket vending machines, and from the driver. The ticket is only valid if it has been validated for both the outbound and return trips.
The locations of all advance sales offices and ticket machines are listed on the interactive route map at www.netzplan-wiesbaden.de (opens in a new tab). Further general information about Wiesbaden’s mobility service provider is available at www.eswe-verkehr.de (opens in a new tab) or via social media channels.
