Neugasse: Traffic Restrictions Due to Utility Line Replacement
ESWE Versorgung is currently replacing a long section of the supply line on Neugasse. The construction work is causing traffic restrictions. The goal of this project is to ensure a reliable supply in the long term and to prevent future disruptions.
Following a water main break on a supply line on Neugasse last Sunday morning, June 21, ESWE Versorgung has taken extensive measures to permanently repair the damage. The affected pipeline dates back to 1967. Although the damaged section was successfully repaired on the same day, it quickly became apparent—due to the large volume of water that had leaked out—that significant scouring was to be expected in the affected area. As work continued, additional pipe damage was also discovered. After a thorough analysis of the damage, ESWE Versorgung therefore decided not only to repair individual damaged sections but to completely replace a longer section of the supply line.
The construction work is currently causing traffic restrictions in the vicinity of Neugasse. One side of the street is closed. In addition, Mauergasse is completely closed starting at the intersection with Neugasse. Likewise, it is currently not possible to drive from Schulgasse/Ellenbogengasse via Neugasse toward Marktstraße, including access to the Weinand Garage. However, an alternative access route has been found to reach the Weinand Garage. Access to the Galeria parking garage will remain unrestricted throughout the entire construction period.
No reliable statement can currently be made regarding the duration of the restrictions, as the results of the ongoing geological surveys are still pending. These results will be decisive for the further planning of the measures.
