Press release of the state capital Wiesbaden

Fasanerie Animal and Botanical Park Reduces Operating Hours

The Fasanerie Animal and Plant Park, located at Wilfried-Ries-Straße 22, will be open only from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, June 26, and Saturday, June 27. The German Weather Service has issued a heat warning for both days. Temperatures of up to 40 degrees Celsius are expected. Opening hours will be shortened to accommodate the animals’ needs and to ensure the safety of staff and the well-being of visitors.

The exceptionally high temperatures pose a significant strain not only on people but also on animals. Thanks to the shortened opening hours, the animals can retreat undisturbed to shaded areas or their stalls during the hottest hours of the day and protect themselves from the heat there.

Visitors are also asked to take the very high temperatures seriously and to ensure they have adequate protection from the heat. They should avoid staying in direct sunlight whenever possible and, in particular, make sure that children are adequately protected from the sun’s rays. Furthermore—regardless of whether you are visiting the Fasanerie—it is recommended that you avoid scheduling outdoor activities during the hottest hours of the day, especially in the afternoon. Drinking plenty of fluids, wearing light clothing, and spending time in the shade regularly can help prevent heat-related health issues.

The Fasanerie is one of the cooler places in Wiesbaden and a popular destination for families. But the extremely high temperatures do not stop at the edge of the forest. By opting for reduced opening hours, the Fasanerie aims to ensure both the well-being of the animals and the safety of its employees, while at the same time providing visitors with a visit that is as pleasant and safe as possible.

The Fasanerie asks for your understanding and looks forward to welcoming visitors again during regular opening hours once temperatures have cooled down.
