Press release of the state capital Wiesbaden

Complete closure of the Waldstraße intersections

Due to the replacement of a water main on behalf of Hessenwasser GmbH, the exit from Waldstraße onto Schiersteiner Straße, as well as the entrance to and exit from Waldstraße toward Holzstraße (Dotzheim), will be completely closed to vehicle and bicycle traffic. At the Schiersteiner Straße/Waldstraße intersection, only one lane will be available in each direction.

On the side of the road heading out of town, it is still possible to turn onto Waldstraße toward Biebrich.

Construction work will begin on Tuesday, March 24, and is expected to continue through April 16, 2026. Drivers familiar with the area are asked to detour via the 2nd City Ring Road.

Starting as early as Thursday, March 19, traffic management measures will be in place at the Schiersteiner Straße intersection. Significant traffic backups are expected here. It is recommended to take a wide detour around the area.

Pedestrians can use their usual routes. The city asks for your understanding regarding the traffic disruptions associated with the work.

The city regularly renovates roads, utility lines, and sewers. As a result, there are approximately 5,000 construction sites in Wiesbaden every year. A map showing selected projects is available at wiesbaden.de/baustellen (opens in a new tab). If buses are affected, ESWE Verkehr will provide information on detours at eswe-verkehr.de (opens in a new tab). All of this work represents an investment in the future. Without these projects, major damage—and consequently more severe traffic disruptions—would occur sooner or later.
