Lord Mayor Mende welcomes new magistrate members

On Tuesday, May 5, Lord Mayor Gert-Uwe Mende welcomed the newly elected members of the City Council to their first meeting at City Hall.

The City Council is the head of the administration. It makes decisions on day-to-day administrative matters, prepares resolutions for the City Council, and implements them. The Council typically meets every Tuesday at City Hall. 

“On behalf of the state capital of Wiesbaden and also on a personal note, I warmly welcome you to your first City Council meeting. I look forward to a productive and constructive collaboration for the good of our city,” said Mayor Mende. “I view the City Council as a collegial body. The atmosphere within the City Council is pleasant and trusting. I am pleased that we make many decisions together and very often unanimously.” 

The new City Council members were elected at the constituent meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, April 28. 

The full-time City Council consists of: Mayor Gert-Uwe Mende, Mayor Christiane Hinninger, Hendrik Schmehl, Head of the Department of Finance, Schools, and Culture, Milena Löbcke, Head of the Department of Integration and Legal Affairs, Health, and Animal Welfare, Andreas Kowol, Head of the Department of Construction and Transportation, Dr. Patricia Becher, Head of the Department of Social Affairs, Education, and Housing, and Maral Koohestanian, Head of the Department of Smart City, Europe, and Public Order. 

The honorary magistrate consists of: Astrid Wallmann, Dr. Bernd Wittkowski, Irmtraut Salzmann, Eberhard Seidensticker, Joachim Tobschall, Helga Tomaschky-Fritz, Birgit Neumann, Alexander Hofmann, Ulla Bai, David Geisberger, Robert Lambrou, Monika Giesa, Bodo Kaffenberger, Katinka Bouffier, Christiene Jouaux-Frönd, and Eugen Appelhans.
