Kurhaus ensemble becomes a stage for modern open-air formats
This summer, the Kurhaus ensemble with the Kurpark and concert shell will once again develop into a versatile open-air stage: while the Rheingau Music Festival will host several top-class open-air concerts on the concert square in the Kurpark in July, electronic "Daytime Formats" will set special accents for a modern, urban event experience.
The series kicks off with the daytime event “Vibrancy,” which takes place on Pentecost Saturday in front of the Kurhaus Wiesbaden and is already sold out. Several thousand visitors are expected to celebrate to house and electronic beats under the open sky and enjoy the special atmosphere in front of the Kurhaus.
“The huge response shows just how much demand there is now for music and lifestyle events held during the day. Daytime events in particular can create new spaces for people to come together. They complement the existing offerings, appeal to different target groups, and demonstrate just how diverse and attractive Wiesbaden is as a venue for events and experiences,” says Christiane Hinninger, Head of the Economic Affairs Department and Mayor.
This summer will see another open-air format new to Wiesbaden: “Sunset & Sound.” The festival will take place on August 15 from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Konzertmuschel in the Kurpark, transforming the picturesque park into a summer stage for electronic music, a relaxed atmosphere, and high-quality culinary offerings.
The Rheingau Music Festival also takes advantage of the Kurpark’s special atmosphere in the summer: The Hessenbühne (concert shell) will host, among other events, the “British Film Music Night” on Friday, July 24, “London Lights! West End Musical Hits” on Saturday, July 25, the “FFH Night of Pop” with Michael Schulte and Zoe Wees on Sunday, July 26, and a concert by Tom Odell on Monday, July 27. This spans the spectrum from classical concert culture and pop music to electronic open-air experiences.
Martin Michel, Managing Director of WICM and host of the Kurhaus, says: “It is no coincidence that these diverse formats are taking place right here. The Kurhaus ensemble, with its spa gardens and Bowling Green, offers a setting that is unparalleled in Germany: an urban landmark that combines architectural elegance with natural expansiveness. From concert evenings as part of the Rheingau Music Festival to electronic daytime events, the full spectrum of a venue that brilliantly combines tradition with contemporary event culture is on display here.”
