There are countless instruments around the world, and the selection at WMK is equally vast and diverse. Whether it’s the piano, guitar, violin, or trumpet, visitors to the open house have the opportunity to experience a wide variety of instruments up close and find out which one suits them best. Even more unusual instruments, such as the shakuhachi or the Veeh harp, are available to try out. 

Of course, popular music instruments are also represented: drums, electric guitar, keyboard, saxophone, and electric bass invite you to test them out and make music. The experienced instructors at the WMK are on hand to offer personal advice and provide individual assistance in choosing the right instrument. 

In addition to individual appointments bookable online, the popular instrument tour and open house are back this year. The doors to many classrooms will be open, and interested visitors can drop by spontaneously to learn about instruments and try them out right away, with no registration required. Visitors can also look forward to a varied musical program both in front of and inside the building. Short performances and live demonstrations offer the opportunity to experience different instruments firsthand.

Schedule for the Open House, June 20:

• 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.: Open house sessions bookable online (registration required)

• 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.: Instrument tour at the Kulturforum, studio, and rehearsal hall (no registration required—just drop by and try it out)

• 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.: Open trial sessions (no registration required)
