Environmental Award 2026: Exhibition and award ceremony in the town hall

The state capital of Wiesbaden honors outstanding commitment to nature conservation and environmental protection: On Friday, June 5, Mayor Christiane Hinninger will present the Wiesbaden Environmental Award 2026, endowed with a total of 3,000 euros.

Before the award ceremony, residents of Wiesbaden will have the opportunity to learn about the submitted entries. Starting Saturday, May 30, participants will present their projects in an exhibition on the ground floor of City Hall, located at Schlossplatz 6. The exhibition offers a glimpse into the activities and ideas related to environmental, nature, and climate protection in the region.

Mayor Christiane Hinninger: “With the Environmental Award, we want to highlight the many great ideas and the creativity with which citizens, associations, businesses, and schools are committed to nature and climate protection. The award is intended to motivate people to take action themselves—right on their own doorsteps or in their own neighborhoods.”

The Environmental Award of the State Capital of Wiesbaden has been presented every two years since 2010 and has established itself as a platform for promoting sustainable development. The projects are evaluated by a panel of experts consisting of representatives from the city and political parties, among others.

The award ceremony on World Environment Day is open to the public and will take place at 3 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom of City Hall. Interested citizens are cordially invited to attend the ceremony. Please register at umweltberatungwiesbadende.

The names of the winning projects will be announced during the ceremony. On this day, recognition will be given not only to the award winners but also to all other applicants who submitted their initiatives for this year’s award.
