Public libraries recorded more than 300,000 visits in 2025
To mark Library Day on Saturday, October 24, the Wiesbaden Public Libraries are releasing their statistics for the year 2025: A total of 307,169 visits and 870,589 checkouts were recorded. Approximately 600,000 items are available at eight locations and online, which can be accessed with a free library card.
Last year, 885 events were held—an average of more than two per day. The offerings range from a lecture series on aging to reading and writing courses for adults, as well as gaming nights for teens, storytime events for children, and concerts for babies.
“The figures clearly show that Wiesbaden’s public libraries are much more than just a place to borrow books and media. They are open community spaces that provide opportunities for interaction and a diverse program for all generations,” says Dr. Patricia Becher, Head of the Department of Culture.
Many events are organized in cooperation with members of the local community. In 2025, the city libraries collaborated with 95 partners, including adult education institutions, socially engaged organizations, schools, and daycare centers.
