Following the film, representatives from Wiesbaden’s Child and Youth Welfare Services will discuss the framework for effective youth welfare and what children need to have a stable home. 

The film follows three childcare workers over the course of a year as they carry out their demanding work in child and youth welfare. Navigating the challenges of parental love, bureaucracy, and the youth welfare office, they work day in and day out to provide children with stability and security. The multi-award-winning film—which has received the Bavarian Film Prize, the German Documentary Film Prize, and the German Camera Prize, among others—shines a light on the people working behind the scenes to ensure that children are not left alone. 

Following the screening, stakeholders in Wiesbaden’s child and youth welfare services will discuss: What does effective youth welfare require? What framework conditions are necessary? And how can effective youth welfare be achieved locally in Wiesbaden? 

The event begins on Thursday, October 1, at 5:30 p.m. at the Caligari FilmBühne. The film runs 91 minutes and is rated for all ages. The discussion will follow the screening. This event is organized by the Wiesbaden Cultural Office – Caligari FilmBühne and AG 78 Erziehungshilfe.
