Press release of the state capital Wiesbaden

The flowing fountain in Goldsteintal is being redesigned

The Parks and Recreation Department of the state capital of Wiesbaden will renovate the Goldstein Spring and redesign the area around it. This is intended to protect the forest surrounding the fountain while also improving traffic safety on Goldsteintal Street.

In the coming weeks, tree trunks will be placed on both sides of the road in the Goldstein Valley to serve as barriers. Their purpose is to ensure that parked cars no longer obstruct traffic or damage the forest. Fire trucks and emergency vehicles must be able to pass the Goldstein Spring unimpeded.

In a further step, structural changes will be made to the Goldstein Spring itself. In the future, visitors to the spring will only be able to refill their water bottles. Filling canisters with water will no longer be permitted. A large number of visitors to the spring have recently caused significant damage to the forest in the Goldstein Valley due to parked cars and litter left behind.
